A Real Man 18+

The following review is for 18+ readers.

3 of 5 stars false
FIVE WOMEN. ONE NIGHT. ONE YEAR TO GET IT RIGHT.
Stifled by her previous marriage, widowed Melissa swears to find herself a real man—but Matt finds her instead, rescuing her from a car wreck and proving that the years since high school have only made him more desirable.
A crash resounded; Melissa's chest hit the steering wheel, the air bag deployed with a bang then black silence.
A moment later, or so it seemed, a siren howled in the night. She opened her eyes and lifted her head.
"Ow-ow-ow."
Her neck ached, her head pounded, slivers of steel pierced her eyes. A rap on her window. A man in uniform crouched beside her window for an instant then opened the door.
"Can you hear me?" a deep voice asked. A voice that twanged a chord inside her despite her various aches and pains.
"Yes."
"Good."
Good. She pleased the sensuous voice. Good.
"I'm going to touch you."
Yes. Please.
Warm fingers smoothed over her forehead, down her cheeks, behind the base of her skull.
"Does any of this hurt?"
His touch? No! Oh, he meant her head.
"My head. My neck. My eyes. All of them."
"Anywhere else?" His long fingers moved over her shoulders, along her arms, around her hips and down her legs.
"Feels good." Damn. She'd said that out loud.
"I'd better check your head again."
He pulled off her ski hat and gasped. "Melissa Martin?"
The question in his suddenly familiar voice blasted her eyelids up. In the dim light she saw a man with a dark beard around a sensual mouth. Her gaze moved up past a scar on his cheek to dark, concerned eyes then back to the scar she'd kissed a hundred times a lifetime ago. "Matt Conroy?"

Review

****This book was part of a blog tour, I received a copy for my honest review****

This book starts out with a recap of the New Years Eve party in the first book, but it's from Melissa’s point of view. We find out that Melissa was in a marriage with an indifferent and controlling husband who died. Three months after the party Melissa has started school again and on her way to a study date she gets in a car accident and her ex-boyfriend from high school is on of the EMTs who pulls her out of the car. Matt and Melissa reconnect, but Melissa wants a real man and she doesn't know if Matt is it. Matt knows he used to be a jerk, he wants Melissa again and he has to find a way to prove to her that he is nothing like the boy he used to be. Melissa wasn't an ordinary woman trying to take her life back after living in a blah marriage. Matt was a nice man willing to prove himself as a good guy, he has a good job and really cares about the people he helps. A Real Man was a quick read; at 131 pages it only took me less than an hour to read the thing. It was a nice quick love story, nothing about it really stood out to me, but there was nothing bad about it either. Since the book was so short things happened quickly, it was a light airy read. If you are looking for a quick, cute love story without a lot of drama you should read this book.

Ten Tiny Breaths 18+

The following review is for 18+ reader
 5 of 5 stars false

Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Kacey can swallow the constant disapproval from her born-again aunt Darla over her self-destructive lifestyle; she can stop herself from going kick-boxer crazy on Uncle Raymond when he loses the girls’ college funds at a blackjack table. She just needs to keep it together until Livie is no longer a minor, and then they can get the hell out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.
Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.
But Kacey isn’t the only one who’s broken. Seemingly perfect Trent has an unforgiveable past of his own; one that, when discovered, will shatter Kacey’s newly constructed life and send her back into suffocating darkness.

Review

Just breathe. Ten tiny breaths … Seize them. Feel them. Love them.”
This is one of those times that I will try and write a blooming great review for a book and will just come out lacking. I honestly don't think I can do this book justice.
Ten Tiny Breaths amazed me. I was left a bubbling mess, rethinking all the pain and anguish these characters had gone through to finally reach a happily ever after.
This love story was a good one and although I saw where it was going before I got there I don't think it did anything to put me off. In fact because I was pretty sure where it was going it made everything that happened, everything that was said that more full on.
Trent and Kacey have haunted paths, tragedy haunts both of them. One is full of anger, the other seeking forgiveness.
They come together and for once Kacey can't seem to push someone away.
Trent has a determination about him to make things right for Kacey and it is a lovely thing.
"I want to make you smile. For real. Always. We're going to go for dinners, and see movies, and walk on the beach. We'll go hang gliding, or bungee jumping, or whatever you want to do. Whatever makes you smile and laugh more. Let me make you smile."
I felt such anguish for Trent in this book, to work so hard, god!!! You will understand when you read it. What a wonderful man with such good intentions, I could not flaw him for them.
"I'll make you whole again, Kacey. I promise you, I will.”
There is an array of beautiful secondary characters that really make this book, they give it an extra sparkle. Storm and Mia are a pair I am glad were put in as they broke up the seriousness and helped bring out the hope. Not just for characters but for me as well.
Ten Tiny Breaths is a tale of tragedy, trauma but also hope and forgiveness.
It has been written extremely well, with the flash backs, each time you feel the horror of Kacey and you understand her pain.
I feel very lucky to have read this book, it is definitely one that will stay with me.
I love, love, loved it and I would recommend it to all as it is a very worthwhile read.

The Tease

 2 of 5 stars false
Anna Zendel is your average 32-year-old therapist, stressing about clinical exams and struggling to recover from an abusive relationship. But at night she transforms herself into the saucy burlesque dancer Velvet Crush, enchanting Chicago audiences with the art of the tease.
As Anna struggles to keep the therapy and burlesque worlds separate and get over her crush on the troupe's emcee, a new danger threatens women across the city. The papers have dubbed him the Darling Killer, because after strangling his victims, he scrawls the word "darling" on their skin.
When one of Anna's fellow dancers is murdered in the dressing room, she realizes that Darling Killer could be closer than she thought. Could Max, Anna's new therapy client who confessed to fantasizing about dead girls and obsessing over the Darling Killer, have anything to do with the murders?
As more women are murdered, and Anna begins receiving mysterious gifts, this burlesque dancer pits feathers and sequins against foul play in the deadliest dance of all.

Review

****NetGalley provided me with a copy of this book for my honest review****
Anna is a therapist who moonlights as a burlesque dancer; she is still recovering from an abusive relationship and working to get over her crush on a fellow worker at the club. After one of the dancers is murdered at the club Anna works at, other women around her start dying. Anna is trying to stay safe and find the killer, at the same time she starts a new relationship. This book started out so good I liked Anna in the beginning, she was strong and in control of her sexuality. All the sudden she became a weak and neurotic, it just went down from there. Her obsessive inner monologue and second guessing every single person in her life became repetitive and annoying. After obsessing over every little thing and making bad decisions she finally makes a good one. She makes a few right choices and warns her friends to be careful, and then she isn't careful herself. Ugh this book was so infuriating and to top it all off we are left with a cliffhanger. I won't be reading the next book in this series.
